No. It’s not the name of a Sci-Fi movie, yet to be produced, nor is a high tech new age children’s story. But it’s a title of an article I’ve been meaning to write for some time now.
I’ve always been fascinated with Joint-Ventures and the power I could potentially harness from such a partnership. So, I could say I’ve experimented with JV partnerships a long time ago and here’s my two cents.
If you go out there and search for information on joint-ventures, you will find only hard pitch marketing style info that tells you how you can end your worries about getting targeted traffic to your websites without spending a fortune in online advertising.
How easy and lucrative it is to find JV partners and build huge opt-in lists in a matter of days! No! Let’s make that hours! Everybody is talking about the awesome benefits and bla-bla-bla.
Well, that’s true when you look at things from a particular perspective. And that perspective is presenting you as being an expert in a particular field. But what happens when you are a total newbie?
Here’s a scenario you are probably familiar with. I know I am…
You are a newbie who just started he’s online endeavor and you found out you can look for potential joint-venture partners to start an online business with them.
You don’t have a product and you don’t have a service. Basically you have nothing valuable to offer. All you have is a website and maybe you just started your first blog because you heard it’s a great way to make money online.
Now remember, a JV partner is similar with a customer. The first question that pops up in their head is: “What’s in it for me?”. Usually when a customer asks this question, you have a product or a service to put in front of them and that’s when usually a sale is made.
But what about the JV partner? What can you offer, as a total newbie, that would possibly interest your potential joint-venture partner?
And this is where the paradox comes in place because if you don’t have a list to leverage or something to offer, that will help your JV partner, the deal is going to be a no-deal sooner than you can say “Joint-Venture”.
Nevertheless, if you are a total newbie and you consider joint-venturing with me, go ahead and contact me… even if you have nothing valuable to offer. Who knows, maybe we’ll turn the tables around and blow this paradox right out of the water.
