I Need Free Images For My Blog

by Remi Vladuceanu on January 8, 2010

When I first decided to go with the WordPress template that probably see right now on this blog, I didn’t realize one thing: I’m going to need an image or picture for every article I’m going to post on this blog.

And if I post an article every single day that’s about 365 images per year! Now where in the heck I’m going to get 365 free images every year to keep my blog professional looking?

And I also know this is a common problem especially for those who create products, websites or because of the nature of their online businesses they need free images that they can use as they please. That includes cutting and pasting, modifying and resizing the images.

Here’s my solution for those of you who don’t wanna spent a small fortune on premium stock photos and images from various sources.

Always start with your own personal collection of photos. If you’re a photo-taking savvy and you store your photos and images in digital format, it’s easier than you thought. You must be having a lot of great images that don’t include subjects as people.

You can always use those images if you can find a connection with the article you want to post on your blog. For example I used an image taken with my cell phone for an article I wrote a while ago about an online link building service. I simply took a shot of my laptop while surfing the website I mentioned. It’s as simple as that!

Then you can start searching for places where they share free stock images online. Just be sure it’s 100% free to use and modify. Usually it’s a good thing to read the sites Terms of Service or Agreements.

I also like to surf Flickr.com by searching for the Common Creative attribute on images. Usually you can take those images and use them as you please. But it is a good idea to ask the owner if it’s ok with them.

I never had any problems with the Flick community in fact all of the users I contacted in order to ask permission to use their images told me to go ahead because it’s ok with them.

But if you still can’t find the right image for your article, your product or your service, than it’s probably a good idea to look for them on special stock photo websites and sign up for a monthly membership fee.

Remember to go with the last option only if you really need those images in the process of creating products, or websites and not to waist your money on something that will end up as an image for a particular blog article.
