Google Wave The Most Complex Communication Tool Since Email

by Remi Vladuceanu on December 1, 2009

Since the invention of email, 40 years ago, there’s been a lot of changes in the way we communicate in the online world and I believe Google is about bring to the table the change of changes! What is Google Wave? You probably ask.

See the live presentation of Google Wave at the Google I/O Event:

(Warning: the video might be loading a bit slowly. It’s almost 1 and a half hour long!)

Google Wave is a new communication platform, similar with instant messengers like gTalk, Yahoo! Messenger or ICQ. But the major differences between those platforms and Google Wave is the way people can interact with the particular message it self, by “rewinding” the communication channel or as Google calls it, the Wave, to any point of the conversation, just like you would do with a movie.

They can invite other people to the conversation and the interesting thing is, because of the Wave, the person who joined later in the conversation and probably missed some of the “lines”, can still “rewind” the Wave and actually see where the conversation started!

But Google Wave doesn’t stops here. You see, when you are using instant messengers, you always have to wait for the other person to type in what she or he wants to say. You are probably familiar with the text: “Nancy is typing…” or something like that. And you wait and you wait… and you wait some more… And especially if Nancy is a slow-typer you are wasting a lot of your time.

Luckily for you, Google Wave solves that problem by instantly sending out the text you are typing in, character by character. Yes, it’s that powerful. That means your communication is much faster and the time you spend waiting for the other person to type in her or his message, is practically null.

There are a couple of other great features that Google Wave has, solving other issues like photo sharing or photo album creation. You can simply drag and drop your photos to Google Wave and share them with anyone you’d like. The best part is, you’re not obligated to place the photos at the end of the stream, or text, as you would normally do with other instant messaging platforms, because you can drop them anywhere in the particular Wave!

The same thing goes for text! You can add text to a particular portion of the Wave, even if you already sent that text to the other participants in the communication channel, or the Wave, for this case.

And there’s still more… The embedding API is incredible. They made it virtually compatible with every Google product we know today. And the thing that developers will love the most is the fact that Google Wave is open-source, operating under the free license agreement.

I believe Google Wave will turn out to be a great tool for online entrepreneurs, for making money online by creating Joint-Venture projects, discussing these projects, sharing thoughts, ideas, photos, charts and others with Google Wave.

If you are familiar with outsourcing, you will probably find Google Wave to be the ONLY tool you will use in the future.

Dramatic commentary about search engine optimization. I’m frankly surprised that that hasn’t been alleged earlier.
